GILDED LEOPARD

Feeling a bit like a trophy in all these metallic duds: bronze shorts, shiny leopard bomber jacket, and a snapback adorned with an impressive amount of gold medallions and rhinestones. Oh yeah, and reflective sunglasses for that classic Zeva Midas touch. I'm very much inspired by all things opulent, juxtaposed with sporty or urban casual motifs. Baroque is still a popular aesthetic among streetwear enthusiasts, myself included. So choosing these literally metallic shorts from DailyLook to match the rest of my gilded wardrobe was obvious.

SUNNY SIDE UP

I am feeling ~fried~ in the best way possible right now... I got my egg boobies crop top from Red Rock Fashion on and I am ready to brunch in beast mode. First time you've ever heard 'brunch' and 'beast mode' in the same sentence, huh? I try to keep things fresh here in my corner of the universe... fresh like Prince of Bel-Air, whom ultimately inspired this outfit. My cardigan features a spotted print reminiscent of zany 80s patterns. And while I'm not rocking any color-blocked neon or fluorescent stripes, I do have on my snapback and chains. Sunny side up game on point.

So these  i n s a n e  shredded shorts are from Mustard Cartel, an online vintage shop that sells on-trend apparel like a leather peplum blouse and transparent fringe kimono. And they have a pretty impressive denim shorts collection, so there's more studs and shreds where these came from!

WILD AND FREE

Sporting my trusty knit crop sweater from Daily Look this lazy Sunday... but hopefully not looking too lazy in it. I paired it with my new "rainbow unicorn" print leggings from RI.by.Carrie and an oversize plaid robe wrap-around (woo, that's a mouthful). The look is country -- I'm hoping my Pink & Pepper Funky booties add the finishing Western touch.

By the way, if you're the leggings type, you might want to spy on some of RI.by.Carrie's other designs. They're about more than just pants... and in fact this rainbow unicorn print comes in dress and skirt form, too! Of course, super snug and form-fitting.

SPIRIT OF THE MIND'S EYELESS

Not sure what all this new age "third eye" crap means, but I've heard a million and one people reference it in passing over the years. There's a lyric in a Slipknot song called 'Eyeless' that goes "look me in my brand new eye." I have no idea what that means either, but I'm willing to guess that it has more to do with psychosis than spiritual enlightenment and chakras. Nonetheless, I couldn't resist a sartorial mash-up between the hard shell of a metal band and the soothing nature of Eastern philosophy a la Paul Hardcastle. The result: a party city rhinestone posing as a sparkling tool for clairvoyance, a mysterious velvet robe (one that's made many an appearance here on FTBH), and, yes, Slipknot SHORTS. The genius behind band tees for ya booty is Kay from Look Killer. Check out her Facebook page for the good stuff!

DIAMANTE VELVET

Coming at ya today with a casual cropped knit and rhinestone velvet look! I haven't broken out this bowler hat in actual MONTHS so it almost feels like a completely new accessory for me to play with. Went big with the sunglasses and Oscar de la Renta necklace, but toned it down in every other department. Matching beige sweater and Ralph Lauren pumps are all I need to do those diamante short-shorts baroque justice. You might have noticed that I also own this sweater in gray (featured in Cemented) -- both are staple pieces I picked up from Daily Look! The gold embroidered totem shorts are from Ecugo, a retailer like Romwe and Choies that I recently started working with. Can't wait to show you another vintage ensemble. <3

CHERRY BELLE

I'm baaaack... in my bedroom! Figured it would be fun to give my tripod a go again. Asking someone to photograph my outfit every time I'm wearing one worth blogging about is a lot of work, and I miss the days of flying solo with my camera and timed capture. So here I am. In front of my signature white wall and tapestry. The pink couch is temporarily out of frame (just playing around with my furniture arrangement) but it'll be back in no time. As for the look - I noticed I've been wearing blue and black almost exclusively, so I wanted to reach back into the annals of inspiration I've since forgotten: French schoolgirl archetypes, feminine silhouettes, and bright rainbow prints to maximize double-taking. My OASAP sweater features a cathedral's technicolor stained glass. I paired it with a vintage rainbow print blouse from Mermaid Vintage to bring out the reds and yellows. Love an extra layer... even in the April heat.
